I keep songs in my head. Not your secrets.

The short version

Nain only keeps what it needs to play music, remember your settings and keep your playlists. It doesn't read your messages, and it never listens to or records anyone in voice.

No ads, no selling data, no tracking you around the internet. Most of it deletes itself. Playlists and settings stay until you remove them, and you can do that yourself with a command. For anything else, email [email protected] and we'll take care of it.

Who we are

Nain is a Discord music bot made by dsc.sh. When this page says "we", it means the dsc.sh team, the people who run Nain. When it says "Nain" or "I", it means the bot.

Nain runs on servers we operate ourselves. Its database, its cache and its text to speech engine all live there, not on a third party cloud.

What Nain keeps

Nain works with your Discord user ID, the ID of your server and the text you type into its commands. From that, it keeps a few things:

• Your playlists, with their songs, who added each one and who can edit them.
• Likes and plays on playlists, so the charts can work. Individual plays are deleted after 30 days.
• Your voice settings for text to speech: the voice, speed, style and loudness you picked.
• Server settings chosen by the server's admins, like the DJ role and the default volume.
• The queue and the player for each server, so the music survives a restart. These delete themselves after 7 days and 1 day.
• The date of your first command, so the one time welcome tip only shows up once.
• Error logs, kept for up to 30 days, so we can fix things when they break.

The data page has every item with exactly what's in it, why it's there and how long it stays.

What Nain never does

• Read your messages. Nain only talks through slash commands and buttons. It doesn't ask Discord for message content at all.
• Listen in voice. Nain joins a voice channel to send music, not to receive it. It never records or processes what people say.
• Keep what you make it say. Text sent to /tts say is turned into audio on our own server. The audio file is deleted within an hour, and the text itself isn't saved anywhere.
• Sell or share your data for ads, profiling or anything like it. There are no ads and no analytics trackers.

How it's used

Only to make Nain work: finding and playing the songs you ask for, showing the player and its lyrics, saving your playlists, building the charts, remembering your settings and fixing bugs. We don't use it for anything else, and we don't combine it with other data about you.

Services that see some of it

A music bot has to talk to the places the music comes from. These services only get what they need for that one request:

• Discord, which carries every command, message and voice connection. Their own privacy policy applies there.
• YouTube, YouTube Music and SoundCloud get your search text when you look for a song, and serve the audio. Links from Bandcamp, Twitch and Vimeo go to those sites.
• Spotify gets the album, playlist or artist link when you paste one, so Nain can read the track list.
• YouTube Music and LRCLIB get the song title and artist when lyrics are turned on.

None of these requests include your Discord ID or your name. They come from our server, not from you.

What other people can see

• The player is a normal message in the channel, so everyone there can see the song and who asked for it.
• Public playlists show their name, description, songs, likes and your display name to anyone who uses Nain. They can also appear in the charts.
• Unlisted playlists are only visible to people who have the code.
• Private playlists are only visible to you and the people you invite to edit them.
• Text to speech is spoken out loud in the voice channel, with your name first unless you turn off Say my name in /tts voice.

Deleting your data

You can remove most of it yourself, right now:

• /playlist delete removes a playlist with all its songs, likes and play history.
• Press Like again on a playlist to take your like back.
• The Reset button in /tts voice clears your voice settings.
• Anyone with Manage Server can press Reset to defaults in /settings to clear the server's settings.
• /stop clears the queue right away.

Want everything gone at once, or a copy of what we have? Email [email protected] with your Discord user ID. We'll answer within 30 days, usually much sooner. Deleting everything also removes your playlists, and that can't be undone.

This website

nain.dsc.sh has no cookies, no accounts and no analytics. Our web server keeps standard access logs (IP address, page and browser) to keep the site running and safe. Traffic passes through Cloudflare, and the fonts load from Google Fonts, so both see your IP address like any other website you visit.

Age

Nain is for people who are old enough to use Discord in their country, which is at least 13 in most places. We don't knowingly keep data from anyone younger. If you think we do, let us know and we'll delete it.

Changes

If Nain starts keeping something new or uses data in a new way, this page and the data page get updated first, with a new date at the top.
